* Occasionally a month will have five lessons, and that fifth lesson is considered a free bonus lesson. However, if you have to miss a lesson in such a month, you will not be eligible for a make-up lesson.
No refunds will be given for students who stop riding in the middle of a pre-paid lesson package.
Riders must be at least six years old to participate in this lesson program. Lessons are thirty minutes to one hour long, depending on the level and age of the rider and the number of riders participating in the lesson. Beginner lessons are always private. Riders who can steer independently at a walk and trot will ride in a group of two or three. Jumping lessons may also have up to three riders participating. Help with tacking up (getting the horse ready) is included in the lesson time until you are able to do it yourself.
In addition to riding skills, I teach basic horse care such as the names of the parts of a horse, the names of the parts of the tack (equipment), what a horse eats, why they wear shoes, how to keep a horse clean and healthy, and how to tell if they are sick or injured.
Horseback riding is a sport which combines an athletic event with the responsibility of caring for another living creature. I do not teach the kind of lesson program where the child arrives to find their horse ready and waiting for them and then hands the horse back to the instructor at the end of the lesson. I expect even the tiniest of students to help as much as they can.
Students also have the opportunity to participate in occasional extra activities such as shows or day camp. Details can be seen here.
I realize that everyone has busy schedules but because I must be able to budget based on my teaching schedule, no refunds or discounts will be given for missed lessons. If you have to miss a lesson, let me know and I
will fill out a make-up slip for you that will be good for two months from the
date of the missed lesson.Make-up slips
will be kept on the bulletin board in the lounge so you can easily see if you
have a make-up coming.I must receive
notice that you will be missing a lesson (at least 24 hours before the lesson
except in the case of illness or injury) in order for you to be eligible for a
make-up lesson.
If this kind of program interests you, please email for scheduling information.
