* Occasionally a month will have five lessons, and that fifth lesson is considered a free bonus lesson. However, if you have to miss a lesson in such a month, you will not be eligible for a make-up lesson.
No refunds will be given for students who stop riding in the middle of a pre-paid lesson package.
This lesson program is aimed at our youngest beginners, ages four to six. Lessons are thirty minutes long which does include getting the pony ready (tacking up) and putting him away. The amount of time actually spent in the saddle ends up being fifteen to twenty minutes which is a perfect match for the students' typically short attention spans.
Students learn basic pony care, the names of the parts of the pony and his equipment, and how to safely interact with ponies. While mounted, young riders learn balance, flexibility, and basic riding skills. Lessons begin on the leadline and progress toward a goal of independent riding.
Riders must wear long pants and sturdy shoes with a heel (no sneakers!). A safety-approved helmet is also required at all times while mounted but Myrewyn can provide a helmet if necessary.
