Myrewyn Sophisticated Lady ~ Guaranteed Gold (TB) x Rosalynn

palomino filly born July 4 ~ hunter prospect

Diana's sire is the Canadian Thoroughbred stallion  Guaranteed Gold and her dam is our treasured Swedish mare, RosalynnWe are thrilled with the results - this filly would be exquisite even without her wonderful color!  Diana is pictured here at eight hours -- all legs!

Isn't it amazing how a foal grows in just one month?  The photo to the left was taken on August 4.  We expect Diana to mature between 16.0 and 16.1 hands like both her sire and dam.  Compared with Inigo, this is a very welcome and manageable size!

With her beautiful expression and floaty trot with almost no knee, Diana has a bright future in the hunter ring.  We hope that she escapes babyhood with few enough bumps and scrapes that she can show in the conformation ring as well, but we are raising her in a herd situation so that she can grow up and know that she is a HORSE.  We feel that it is important for all horses to be turned out as much as possible and know how to communicate with other horses.

I love this photo of a tiny little collected canter.  Of course she does foal zoomies too, but I'm most impressed at her natural balance at the canter.  She canters next to me at my walking speed some mornings when she is feeling eager to get to her turnout.

Don't be fooled by the serene look in this photo, taken at three months.  Diana is a temperamental princess -- a boss mare in the making.  She likes to practice guarding the water trough but of course the other mares just roll their eyes at her and drink anyway.  You can see here the dark color her legs are shedding out, and her single tiny back sock.  It took months to be able to tell whether she had any white on her.

In July of 2009, Barbara Livingston visited Myrewyn to take photos of some of the horses and ponies for an upcoming book.  Following are some of the photos she took of Diana that day.
